Handmade Holiday: Felt Owls and Concentric Circles

Here are two more craft projects in time for the holidays.

Enjoy, Mari

Felt Owl

Owls

Materials:

  • Felt (at least two different colors)
  • Scissors
  • Embroidery Thread
  • Needle
  • Buttons
  • Batting/Cotton Balls

The process to make the felt owl is very similar to the felt birds (see tutorial here). Print out my Felt Owl Template, pin to different color felt pieces and cut out. Add button eyes and embellish with different color embroidery floss.

Concentric Circles

Circles

Materials:

  • Felt (at least two different colors)
  • Scissors
  • Embroidery Thread
  • Needle
  • Buttons
  • Batting/Cotton Balls
  • Ribbon

Also similar to the Owl and Birds, cut out circles of different sizes and colors. Find a coordinating piece of ribbon and complementary button. I sewed the button through all of the top pieces first so they would stay in place. Then, I sewed on the back circle with a contrasting color of thread about halfway. After filling the half sewn circles with cotton, I continued to sew the edge of the circle to close, ending with sewing the piece of ribbon in place.
